Founders Day Proclamation
Founders Day Proclamation
October 24,
To be read at your chapter meeting either October 18 or October 25
marks years since Delta Zeta Sorority’s founding. And, in a year unlike any other, we have much to celebrate because of our sisterhood.
Founder Alfa Lloyd Hayes, who served as Delta Zeta’s National President from , said, “We must grow, not just in number but in strength and character as well. Remember that Delta Zeta always calls for the highest and best that is in you.”
Alfa’s words touch the heart in all of us who know how our Sorority has truly impacted our lives. Delta Zeta’s values live within us and through our actions – no matter where our lives, or the world, take us. Delta Zeta sisters are always willing to give any situation their best. This year, you have shown love that is ever steadfast to your sisters and cared for one another in times of need, and we are so grateful for each other’s friendship and sisterhood.
On Founders Day, I urge you to draw upon the “highest and best that is in you” each day, knowing some days it might be easier than others. We each honor our Sorority’s ideals and the values that our Founders held dear while building a future, that is even brighter than what we have today, for the women that join after us.
As all Delta Zeta members observe Founders Day, let us proudly wear our colors of rose and green in evidence of our dedication and loyalty to Delta Zeta.
Given under my hand and seal of the Sorority this 24th day of October in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty and of the Sorority, the one hundred and eighteenth.
Christy Phillips-Brown
National President
