Btcc snetterton crash

An ITV cameraman has escaped serious injury after a dramatic crash at the start of the third British Touring Car Championship race at Snetterton.

A collision at the rear end of the grid sent Hunter Abbott's Chevrolet Cruze barrel-rolling off the circuit and into a camera tower, being hit by Ollie Jackson's Audi along the way.

Mark Howard's Volkswagen CC was involved in the crash and Alex Martin too in his Ford Focus.

The tower fell to the floor with cameraman Phil White on top.

Initial reports say that White, who was 12ft in the air, was shaken but conscious.

The race was stopped immediately. The barriers were damaged in the incident and repairs are now being made.

It is the second of the day's three BTCC races to be red-flagged after a violent early crash, a destructive midfield accident having occurred in race two earlier in the afternoon.
